Before calling our hotline, please determine the following:
- Does the bird have webbed feet? If not, it’s not a seabird. We can direct you to the appropriate organization.
- Does the bird need help? If it is a seabird in a seabird colony, there is a good chance it is just fine. Look for evidence of injury or predators nearby.
- What seabird do you have? If it is mostly grey with all pink feet, it could be an ‘ua’u kani. If the toes are black, it could be an endangered ‘ua’u.
- Is the bird safe? See instructions below for how to keep the bird safe until we arrive.
